Obituary

Rulon Blaine Niederer 1929-2011. Rulon, 81 of Rexburg, Idaho peacefully passed away February 24, 2011 at home surrounded by loved ones.
Rulon was born in Rexburg, ID on October 7, 1929 to parents Rulon Sheppard and Vada Rowena Nielsen Niederer.
He attended grade schools in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. He served in the Idaho National Guard for two years while he was attending high school. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Japan until the Korean War and was among the first divisions to be sent to Korea.
On January 16, 1953 he married the love of his life Gayle Morgan in Lorenzo, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on December 4, 1964. They were blessed with two children a son David, and daughter Vickie.
Rulon was passionate about his family, faith, and his Country. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Several trips were taken to Island Park to camp, and take the boat out to catch fish. He was a skilled fisherman who had a knack for hooking fish. Fishing was business and many hours were spent out on the lake.
He was a patriotic man who loved his country and was proud of his service. He was active in the VFW and served as Rexburg's Post Commander. He was a life member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He was active in the LDS church and held the office of High Priest.
Among other things he will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, his love for life, kind demeanor and happy go lucky personality.
Rulon was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Gayle Morgan Niederer, son David (Patricia), daughter Vickie (Spencer), sister Beulah Widdison, 11 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jesse Ray Niederer, sisters Alta May Niederer, Helen Palmer, and Norma Widdison.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. before the services at the Rexburg Third Ward LDS Church located at 345 South 3RD West, Rexburg, ID.
Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery at Archer with military services performed by Madison County veterans. Condolences may be sent online to www.flammfh.com
