Bob Beebe
Russel Robert Beebe, 83 of Rexburg, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his home of natural causes.
He was born November 27, 1927 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Harry Phillip and Hazel Melissa Bronson Beebe.
He spent his earliest years in Sterling Idaho, ridding horses on his grandfather's ranch. When he was eight the family moved to Swan Valley where his mother taught school at West Piney.
About the time he was ten the family moved to Rexburg. "Bob" attended Madison schools. He was active in baseball, football, and track.
When he was 17 he joined the Merchant Marines, because he wanted to travel the world.
In 1949 he married his sweetheart Regina A. Neville. They lived for a short time in Hamer, ID where Bob worked on a farm.
They eventually made their home in Rexburg where they raised their four children. Bob worked on the Rexburg Police force for five years before he was advanced to the position of Chief of Police. In 1972 he was employed by Ricks College where he remained until he retired.
He was an active member of the Church of Jusus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served with the youth, in Priesthood Leadership positions, and as a Home Teacher. He loved to play church softball.
Bob loved sports and enjoyed the many years he volunteered as a coach for Little League Baseball. He was an avid checkers player, and was Madison County Checker Champion for several years.
He loved to fish on "No tell-um creek", play practical jokes, and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Regina of Rexburg; children, Brenda (Boyd) Pope of Albuquerque, NM; Deborah (Craig) Frisby of Rexburg, ID; Keith (Belka) Beebe of Idaho Falls, ID; Laurie (Daniel) Compton of Olympia, WA; 19 grandchildren 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Viola and Laura; a son Robert James; a daughter Regina Catherine; and a grandson Robert Craig Frisby.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rexburg 3rd Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Paul Johanson officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.flammfh.com.
