Russell Lloyd Bean, 87, passed away at his home on January 26, 2013 with his family at his side. He was born on December 19, 1925 in Newdale, Idaho to Lee Addison Bean and Edith Siddoway Bean. He had three brothers Douglas, Merlin, and Lee and three sisters Helen, Elizabeth and Miriam.
Russell spent his early years in Newdale, later moving to the family farm between Teton and Newdale. He attended Teton Elementary and graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1944.
Soon after graduation, Russell joined the army. He served in the Pacific theater during WWII and with the army of occupation in Korea at the end of WWII. Many of those he served with became lifelong friends.
After the war, Russell returned to Teton and began to farm in partnership with his brothers. They farmed as "Bean Brothers" until Doug and Merlin retired, then he farmed in partnership with his son Lane.
Russell married Margaret Phillipp on September 15, 1956 at Holy Rosary Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together they raised four children Leisa, Lane, LaRue and Lloyd.
He enjoyed farming and hard work. Russell was generous with his time and his talents. He was well known for helping others with repairs to their farm equipment, scraping snow, or anything else that was needed.
Russell especially loved spending time with his family. They worked together and had fun together. He loved and was proud of each of his children and grandchildren.
Russell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Teton; a sister, Elizabeth Fiedler of Valencia, California; and children, Lane and Geri Bean of Teton, LaRue and John Lambert of Mackay, and Leisa Clark of Delano, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Reed and Kristen Bean, Jake, Seth, and Adam Lambert; Joel, Russell, Brian and Eric Clark and his wife Jennie and their daughter, Elena – Margaret & Russell's first great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Edith Bean; son, Lloyd Norman Bean; siblings and their spouses, Douglas and Joy Bean, Merlin and Norma Bean, Helen and Harold Watson, Miriam Bean, and Lee Siddoway Bean; and brother-in-law, Robert Fiedler.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Teton Ward under the direction of Flamm Funeral home in Rexburg. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday prior to the services from 10 to 10:45. Interment will be at the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
