Ruth Broadhurst Vander Linden, 91, of St. Anthony, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at her home surrounded by loving family.
She was born on September 15, 1922 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Martha Beam and Stephen Broadhust. She attended Central Elementary and graduated from South Fremont High School.
Ruth married Donald F. Vander Linden on July 29, 1940 in Rigby, Idaho and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They became the parents of six children of whom they were alway proud.
Mom was a master gardener and talented artist and serves as a leader in Cub Scouts and 4-H.
She was an active member ot the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She served two full time missions with her husband.
At the age of 50 Mom went back to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and was a Hospice Volunteer for 20 years.
She is survived by children, Nolan Vander Linden of St. Anthony, ID; Cathy (Sam) Bang of South Jordan, UT; Alita (Arden) Stoddard of Egin, ID; Scott (Kara) Vander Linden of Jerome, ID; and Ken Vander Linden of St. Anthony; 22 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Donald Nicholas; 5 sisters; and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony 3rd & 4th Wards Chapel ( 507 West 2nd North). The Family will receive friends on Friday, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N.). A private family visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
