IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Samuel Larry
Grover
July 6, 1934 – September 14, 2022
Samuel Larry Grover died peacefully on September 14, 2022. He was born to Samuel Erick Grover and Evalyne Anderson Grover in July of 1934. As a youth, he loved working on his family farm and sawmill. He spoke fondly of working side by side with his father and uncles. After graduating from Madison High School, he attended Utah State University before being drafted into the Army, where he served honorably in Korea as a Military Policeman.
In 1962, he married LaNay Withers in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple and started training in the burgeoning field of computer engineering. He was then hired by Honeywell, and the newlyweds moved first to Massachusetts, then to California to finish his training. They finally settled in Salt Lake City, where Sam would go on to have a 30-year career with Honeywell. They had two children: Jeffrey and Jennifer. Sam took his role as protector and provider very seriously and was committed to his family. Having grown up on a farm, worked construction and been in the military there was very little that Sam could not fix, modify, or build. He enjoyed skiing, golf, family road trips, snowmobiling, cruises, working around the house and in the garden. Above all, he enjoyed days on his boat.
He was blessed with three amazing grandchildren. Andrew, Joshua and Avery all brought out the best in him. Sam was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and found joy and comfort in it, particularly in his later years.
Sam is survived by his wife LaNay, son Jeffrey (Pam), daughter Jennifer, sister Karla (Farrell) Benson, brother Keith (Marvely) Grover, and sister Donna (Joe) Foster.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Evalyne Grover, and sister Barbara Grover Evans.
