Obituary

Sandra Parker Smith, 72, of Malad and formerly of St. Anthony, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2012, following a valiant battle with cancer. Sandra was born March 20, 1940, in St. Anthony, to Dean and Naomi Thompson. She was the oldest of four children. She grew up in St. Anthony and graduated from South Fremont High School.

On June 27, 1958, she married Herbert A. Parker and together they started Parker's Sand & Gravel in 1975. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. Herb passed away in 2009, after 51 years of marriage. She later married Sheldon Smith of Malad.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her favorite callings were working with the youth including young women and cub scouts. She enjoyed quilting, scrap- booking, bowling, yard work, and supporting her family in all of their activities. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially "Grandma Day" and "Cousins Week".

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband Herb, parents, daughter-in-law Jackie, brother Greg, and step-granddaughter Nicole Bintz.

She is survived by her children Mike (Tracy) Parker; Shelly (Jerry) Rigby; Todd (Glenna) Parker; and Jay (Christi) Parker; step-children Shannon (Robert) Spencer; Sheri (Brian) Bintz; Shaun (Lynette) Smith; Michele (Preston) Huntsman; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild (soon to be 4) as well as 12 step-grandchildren; brother Morgan (Gayle) Thompson and sister Deanna (Ted) Davies.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov 13 at the St Anthony Stake Center. The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 5:30 pm to 7:00 p.m. at the stake center and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. also at the stake center prior to services. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
