Obituary

Our beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, Scott Blane Hendricks, 64, died in Madison Memorial Hospital, Thursday, September 6, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 29, 1953, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Blane Elmer and Rula Corine Hinckley Hendricks. He married Priscilla Ann Sites, the love of his life, on May 7, 1976, in the Washington D.C. LDS temple.
Scott's life was a testimony of hard work and dedication to serving others. He will be remembered in the hearts of many as a man who overcame many, many challenges and strove to always do his best. Scott recently retired from BYU-Idaho, after 38 years of service. He enjoyed his association with the students and his fellow co-workers at the university. Scott produced a CD called "How to Think Positive Thoughts About Negative Situations," based on the bike/auto accident at age six which left him with brain damage. Scott graduated from Madison High School and always enjoyed the association he had with fellow classmates in the area and at class reunions. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Scott served in the California Anaheim Mission from 1972 to 1974. With Ed Richenbach's help he was instrumental in starting a Scout Troop for Handicapped youth. Scott was proud and happy to be a Temple worker in the baptistery of the Rexburg LDS Temple each Thursday evening.
Scott is survived by his mother, Corine Hendricks of The Homestead in Rexburg, Idaho. He is also survived by his wife, Priscilla and his children, Lorena Ann Hendricks of Glendale, Arizona, and Gregory Scott (Rebecca) Hendricks of St. Anthony, Idaho. Scott is survived by the six grandchildren who brought such joy into his life: Scott Gregory (12), Larissa May (10), Kelsey Virginia (8), Lily Ann (6), Eliza Beth (2), and William Blane (1). Also surviving are his sisters, Vickie (Wylie) Powell of Rexburg, Gayle (David) Simister of Draper, Utah, Tammy (Kenneth) Bruun of Orem, Utah, Lisa (Martin) Garn of Springville, Utah, Shawna (Kendell) Maynes of Murray, Utah, and Wendy (Thomas) Clymore of St. George, Utah, and many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Blane Hendricks, grandparents, Elmer and Blanche Hendricks and Perry and Rula Hinckley, and one nephew, Colby Blane Simister.
The family would like to thank Dr. Christensen and Dr. Clark, the nurses of the ICU, the respiratory therapists and other staff at Madison Memorial Hospital who worked tirelessly to take care of Scott in his last hospitalization. Their caring and compassion will always be remembered.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at the Henry's Fork Stake Center, 1508 West 3000 North in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 N. First East in Rexburg, and Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the stake center prior to services. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
