Obituary

Shane J Morton, the legend, a cowboy, passed away peacefully at his home on September 7, 2018.

Shane J Morton was born on May 20, 1954 to Curley and Karen Morton. He attended schools in St Anthony graduating from South Fremont High School. Dad attended college at ISU on a rodeo scholarship. Dad said most people go to college to get smart, I was smart before I went… I went to rodeo. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He married Linda H Parkinson in 1977, together they had 4 kids, Jared, Slade, Ashley, and Chelsie. They were later divorced. Dads greatest accomplishments were his kids and grandkids. Dad excelled in the rodeo arena winning multiple saddles and over 15 buckles. Dad exemplified being a cowboy by bull riding, calf roping, riding bareback horses and being a pick up man.
In 1990 Dad was in a tragic accident which altered his life forever. Even though he couldn't compete in the arena you could always find him there supporting his family and friends. If you didn't see him at the arena he was either hunting with his boys or watching his Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by Jared (Andrea) Morton, Slade (Celeste) Morton, Ashley (Bruce) Weatherston, Chelsie (Charlie) Messerli. His adored grandkids Trent, Sophie, Andilyn, Tilly, Annie, Gus, Branson, Brynlie, Cody, Oaklee, MacCrae, Mckenzie, Sawyer, and Bo Henry. Parents Curley and Karen Morton, his siblings Hadley (Cari) Morton, Derk (Tina) Morton, Rita (Stan) Crawforth, Brooke (Kent) Jeppesen, Skipper (Megan) Morton.

He was preceded in Death by grandparents, Jim and Florence Morton, Glen and Alice Yearsley and many friends to name a few "broncman" AB Tibbitts, Fred Crane, Jerry Angell and many others that were a big part of his life.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center with Bishop Wade Geisler of the Twin Groves 1st Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. both times at the church. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
