Obituary

Sherrel King Acedo (née Leatham)
of St. Anthony, Idaho, passed away in her sleep on November 11, 2025, at Temple View Transitional Care Center in Rexburg, surrounded by family and staff members.

Sherrel was born on November 6, 1944, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Guy and Vilma Leatham.

She grew up in Rexburg and attended Madison High School. She later attended Rexburg Beauty College.

Alongside her beloved husband, Jesse Acedo Sr., she raised four children: Tina, Jason, Jesse (Jr.), and Ramon.

In addition to raising her children and her homemaking duties, she worked at Ucon Produce in Rigby before becoming a nurse's aide for 20 years at the Rexburg Nursing Home. There, she was known for her strong work ethic, cheerful demeanor, and passion for training and mentoring newer employees, many of whom are still there and remember her with great fondness.

She enjoyed spending time with her friends, her children, and her grandchildren. She loved to watch boxing with her husband and football with her son Jesse (go Cowboys!). She loved to travel whenever she had the opportunity, visiting her husband's family in Mexico and taking many road trips to see her parents in Bandon, Oregon, and her daughter and granddaughter in Portland.

She will be remembered for her strong will, keen wit, and determination.

Sherrel is survived by her brother, Randal Leatham of Rexburg; her sister, Eve Jenkins of Lake Havasu, Arizona; and her children: Tina Langley, Jason Acedo, Jesse Acedo, and Ramon Acedo. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Aspen Holland, Nicole Calonge, Ontaya Acedo, Jason Acedo, Briana Acedo, Jesse Lee Acedo, Rayden Acedo, Treyson Acedo, and Addison Acedo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Vilma Leatham; her brother, Kendal Leatham; her sister, LeeAnn Leatham; and her husband, Jesse Acedo Sr.

A viewing will be held Saturday, November 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary in St. Anthony, immediately followed by a graveside service at Riverview Cemetery, where she will be interred next to her husband, Jesse.

Our family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Rexburg Nursing Home and Temple View Transitional Care Center for the loving, patient, and compassionate care they provided for our mom and grandma over the past few years.
