IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheryl
Bell
March 9, 1944 – February 26, 2025
On February 26, 2025, our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Sheryl Peterson Bell, passed away at home surrounded by family.
Sheryl was born in Rexburg, Idaho in 1944 and was raised on a potato farm in Plano, Idaho by loving parents who taught her the value of hard work and devotion to their faith. Sheryl was the oldest daughter and second oldest of eight children.
During high school, Sheryl was involved in the debate and drama clubs, taught 4H cooking classes, and piano lessons.
While attending Ricks College, Sheryl met the love of her life and married Garon Bell. Married for over 61 years, they were blessed with 7 children, 20 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. In the early 1970's, Sheryl graduated from a paramedic program at Ricks College and became the first female paramedic in Idaho. Working full-time in the purchasing department at Ricks College and then BYU Idaho. Sheryl went back to school and, in 2006, earned her bachelor's degree in business and was subsequently promoted to a purchasing manager. She worked in that capacity until her retirement in 2011. Upon retirement, Sheryl continued to serve in her church.
Sheryl lived for her children and grandchildren, and loved to visit her family and travel to new places. She was an amazing pianist and also played the organ. Her favorite calling at church was being the primary pianist. She loved listening to music and some of her favorite artists were Elton John, Yanni, Captain and Tennille, Neil Diamond, The Carpenters, ABBA, John Denver, and Stevie Nicks.
Sheryl always kept a neat and tidy home with a welcoming atmosphere. Sheryl was an excellent seamstress who could sew anything and even made prom dresses for some of her granddaughters. Sheryl was known to only swear once (a very mild curse word) when she was told her husband would die after a serious accident. Her husband didn't end up dying and made a full recovery. She loved planning family reunions and events. She loved the color red and fake fur coats. Sheryl had the ability to love those that were difficult to love and served those around her with Christlike charity. She was stalwart in her faith and unwavering in her values. Sheryl loved her cats, all of them adopted.
Sheryl loved the women in her life and treasured their friendship. Later in life, she was amazed by the choices and opportunities that women had compared to when she was growing up. Sheryl always strived to better herself and her family and often reinvented herself with new educational opportunities and careers.
Sheryl is preceded in death by her parents Mark and Norma Peterson, brothers Grant, Glade, and daughter Suzanne (Kevin - still kicking).
Sheryl is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Garon John Bell, amazing children Allan (Susan), Stevan (Kari), Christine, Ethan (Echo), Ryan (Lisa), Amy, 20 grandchildren, Mark Alan, Elaine, Dayna (Karl), Troy, Kelsie (Dakota), Samantha (Jefferson), Travis (Hannah), Max, Nancy Jo, Maddie, Molly, Sophie, Niah, Garon, Jax, Gordon, Liliana, Heather, John, Jackson, and 14 great grandchildren.
