Shirley Ricks Arnold, 83, of Rexburg, passed away at Carriage Cove in Rexburg, on June 6, 2015. Shirley was born January 29, 1932, to Theodore and Beulah Bunnell Ricks. She was the youngest of eight children. Shirley attended schools in Rexburg.
She married her high school sweetheart, Verl Arnold, on July 22 1948, in Rexburg. They made their home and raised their five children on the family farm in Lyman. Their marriage was solemnized for time and eternity on April 5, 1950.
For more than twenty years she worked in 4-H teaching many young people sewing, cooking and many more projects and skills. She always loved learning and reading. Because of her love for learning she enjoyed serving as a member of the Madison Library Board. She was also a member of the Embroidery Guild. She created many beautiful works of art with her stitches, leaving a great legacy for her posterity. She was very caring and always interested in others.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings.
She is survived by her children: Sherrie (Bill) Tanner, Rexburg; Kerry (Ann) Arnold, Layton, Utah; Don (Sherry) Arnold, Rexburg; Dale (Carrie) Arnold, Pocatello; David (Linda) Arnold, Provo, Utah; sister Zola Komtop, Fruita, Colorado; 22 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers: Edwin, Jay, Lynn and Bunnell, and sisters: Elaine and Beth.
Funeral services will be held at ll:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the Lyman LDS Church (1952 West 6000 South). The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg (61 N 1st E) and Wednesday at the church in Lyman from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
