Obituary

Sidney J Sakota an amazing, Son, Husband, Father, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, andFriend, died April 26, 2010 at his home surrounded by his wife, family and friends after a valiant fight with cancer. He was under the care of Hospice, Dr. Dane Dickson and Dr. Martha Glen and Debbie Allen. Sid was born to John Shigezo Sakota and Mable Shizuka Hosoda on March 2, 1954 in Rexburg, Idaho.
He attended the Sugar Salem school district where he graduated from Sugar Salem High School with 2 well deserved scholarships in Drafting and Electronics. Sid married Susan Miller November 20, 1976. Together they had 2 beautiful children Sidney C. and Holly. They were later divorced. On June 18, 2002 he found and married the love of his life and his best friend Judy Gould they were later sealed for all time and eternity in the Rexburg LDS Temple on May 21, 2008. During the time of their marriage they lived in Sugar City, Idaho. That is where 2 families were joined and came together as one. Sid was an active member of the LDS Church where he was currently serving as Secretary of the young men's. Sid loved his calling in the church.
Sid worked on the Sakota family farm for years where he learned his respect for hard work; he worked for Hermiston Potato in Hermiston, Or., BMC West in Rexburg, Madison County Jail in Rexburg, BM Tibbitts in Egin, and he was currently employed at Broulim's in Rexburg where he enjoyed every minute of his job He loved working with all his Co-Workers and he said that they made him feel important.
Sid was known for his contagious smile and his overwhelming love for life. He never judged, he was the type of person that would give the shirt off his back. Sid enjoyed riding his Harley's, snowmobiling, plowing with his tractor, beautifying his home and yard, camping, family barbecues, and spending all the time he could with his grandchildren and family. He was known for his pranks and jokes day in and day out. Sid, never had just an acquaintance, everyone formed a bond with him from the moment they met him, children rallied around him, he was the most selfless person known. He would always be first in line to help a friend or neighbor, he definitely radiated a room upon his entrance. Sid had a powerful love for everyone, and was especially proud of his children.
Sid always said " LIFE WAS GOODER" Sid will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Judy Sakota of Sugar City, mother Mable Sakota of Sugar City, children Sidney C. (Becky) Sakota of Baltimore, MD., Holly Ann (Gunther) Hemmer of Portland, Or., Michael Mirltch of California, Steele (Jessica Virgin) Gould of Rexburg, Ginger (Christopher) Hahn of Blackfoot, Daleen (Russ) Hall of Idaho Falls, Judy (Ray McMinn) Hill of Rexburg, Brandy Withers of St. Anthony, Shanelle (Serg) Garcia, of Rexburg, 20 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren, siblings Dan (Michelle) Sakota, of Rigby, John (Peigi) Sakota, of Vancouver, Wa., Lucinda (John) Carstensen, of Boise, Marcy (Dave) Bitter, of Idaho Falls, Johnette (John) McBride, of Salt Lake City, UT, Tina (Mike) Murri of Sugar City . He was preceded in death by his father John Shigezo Sakota, grandparents Kisaburo and Kura Sakota, Harry and Haruto Hosoda and a special Uncle Kazuo and Aunt Micheye Nishihara.
Funeral services will be held Friday April 30, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Sugar City LDS Stake Center, (315 E. 3 rd S., Sugar City). The family will receive friends on Thursday April 29, 2010 from 7:00 pm. until 8:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home, (61 N. 1 st E., Rexburg) and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Chester Cemetery.
