She then went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in Social Welfare. She attended UC Berkeley and earned a Masters in Social Work with specialization in family and children services. She received special scholarship for serving in rural areas and then began her career in Redding, California.

After her retirement in 1981, she lived on her Chapman Town Properties where she grew walnuts, ran a few head of cattle, grew a great garden and welcomed many relatives and friends.

Her travels were varied, including annual trips to Idaho for fishing and to attend family reunions as well as taking a number of cruises.

She championed causes for the Arts, Women and Children. A Social Welfare scholarship has been established in her name.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ross Lynn Covington, Joseph Knapp Covington, Dyle "Tobe" Robertson, Seth Robertson, Jack Covington and a sister, Vida Lewis. She is survived by a brother, Kent Robertson, and many nieces and nephews who loved her so much.
