Obituary

Sozel Allen Mumm, 68, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones on March 10, 2012 following her battle with cancer. She was born April 23, 1943 in Driggs, Idaho to Helen Miskin Allen and Rollin Lyman Allen of Ucon, Idaho.

She attended school in Idaho Falls and Blackfoot. She later attended Ricks College where she studied art. She married Jerry Lee Mumm on June 5, 1964 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together, they raised nine children. Sozel and Jerry had been serving a mission for the LDS church at Adam-Ondi-Ahman in Missouri at the time she became ill. She was able to return home to say goodbye to family and friends at her home in Hibbard before her passing.

Sozel enjoyed her family and friends, and dedicated her life to serving others. She loved little children, and served for many years in the primary. One of her favorite church callings was that as Activity-Day Leader. She was a talented artist and a gifted seamstress. She was a faithful Visiting Teacher, who made it a habit to go above and beyond what was asked, often spending hours preparing meals, baking bread or just listening. As her family grew up, she enjoyed getting to know her grandchildren and supporting them in their various activities. She never took herself too seriously, and was always spontaneous and fun. Her family and friends will miss her tremendously.

She is survived by her husband Jerry, her children, Sozel (Mike) Flake Tucson, Arizona; Jerry (Karen) Mumm, Orem, Utah; Jacob(Miriam) Mumm, Nacodoches, Texas; Justin (Becky) Mumm, Rexburg, Idaho; Heidi (Eric) Anderson, Rexburg, Idaho; John (Karen) Mumm, Syracuse, Utah; Jesse (Heather) Mumm, Soldotna, Alaska; Jedd (Katie) Mumm, Driggs, Idaho; Laura Ann Mumm, Provo, Utah; and 30 grandchildren and her siblings Jamar Wilson, Arrel Allen, Eric Allen, and Roxy Brazzeal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rollin Lyman Allen and Helen Miskin Allen and her brother Monty and sister Vona.

Funeral services will be held at the Henry's Fork Stake Center, 1508 W 3000 N, on Saturday the 17 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Kyle Kinghorn officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 16, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 N 100 E, in Rexburg and from 10:00 to 10:40 at the Stake Center prior to funeral services.

Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Flamm Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers you may make donations to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.
