Stanley Baker
Stanley Jay Baker, 87, died July 11, 2011 in Rexburg, Idaho. He was born May 5, 1924, in Salt Lake City to Allan and Ecil Western Baker.
Stan graduated from the University of Utah in civil engineering. The Bureau of Reclamation hired him to do irrigation and water projects, which were more to his liking, and later to design highways and bridges. He then worked for the World Bank and Asian banks, building projects all over Asia. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Stan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in the temple.
He married LaVerl Powell in 1956 and they had a son Michael J. Baker. The family lived in Brazil and Thailand. LaVerl died in 2001 and Michael in 1983.
In 2002, Stan married Constance "Connie" Clark West. They were good companions and enjoyed visiting temples all over the world.
He is survived by his wife Connie and a sister Lillian Moody.
A viewing will be held from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. with a short service following, on Monday, July 18 at the LDS Chapel on 3051 South 2900 East in Salt Lake City. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
