Obituary

Stella Parkinson Dunn was born January 18, 1926, the second child of five children born to Charles Leslie and Laura Jane Coleman Parkinson at her Grandmother Coleman's home in Plano Idaho. She graduated from earthly life early the morning of April 19, 2018, at the age of 92. Stella had a happy childhood and many wonderful memories which she shared with her children and grandchildren over the years. After graduating from Edmunds High School, she attended Ricks College from which she obtained a degree in Home Economics.
Stella married her high school sweetheart, James Edward Dunn, when he returned from serving three years with the U.S. Air Force in England during World War II. The young couple eloped and married in Salt Lake City, Utah, on December 29, 1945. They spent the first months of married life in San Antonio, Texas, until Jim was discharged from the military in February 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Jim and Stella made their home in Egin, Idaho, where they raised their three sons, Vic, Wayne and Charlie.
Stella loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ and was learning to play a fiddle. She was an amazing seamstress and made many of her own clothes and clothes for her grandchildren. Her quilts were works of art. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and had made many afghans and other beautiful and useful items. She loved to garden and preserved much of what she grew for later use. Stella was a wonderful cook and always had enough to share with whoever might stop by at mealtime. Grandchildren loved coming to her house to stay where they were treated like royalty by their special grandmother. Stella had a way of loving each grandchild so that he or she felt they were her definite favorite. She loved fishing, camping, gold panning, and anything that gave her an excuse to be out of doors. She had many outdoor adventures with her family. She and Jim enjoyed spending winters in Arizona in their later years.
Stella Parkinson Dunn is survived by her sons Vic, Wayne and Charlie and their families which include 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren, her sister Marilyn, and sister-in-law Jolene and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, a sister and a great-granddaughter. Stella will be missed by the family and friends she loved so much.
