Obituary

Stephen William Gee, 63, of Sugar City, died Friday, January 8, 2010, at his home of natural causes. He was born December 17, 1946, in Rexburg, Idaho to Clendon and Erma Ricks Gee. He attended school in Sugar City and graduated from Sugar-Salem High School. He attended Ricks College, Utah State University and Idaho State University.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission for the church in the California South Mission. He married Nanette Child on June 12, 1970 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He served in many leadership positions in the church including: Bishop, Elder's Quorum President, Young Men's President, ward and finance clerks, Sunday School teacher and as a faithful home teacher.

Steve devoted his life to serving and educating the youth of his community. He was a teacher and administrator in Sugar-Salem School District for over 30 years. He also served as a member of the city council in Sugar City.

He enjoyed sports, especially playing basketball and football. He loved boating, music, singing, motorcycling and spending time with family and friends. Steve's grandchildren brought much joy to his life.

He is survived by his wife Nanette of Sugar City; children, Emily (Neill) Thomson of Pocatello, Diana (Casey) Puzey of Sugar City, Jeff (Kortney) Gee of Firth, Shelley Gee of Sugar City, Brian (Sarah) Gee of New York, NY; siblings Marlene (Bill) Jenks, Beverly (Kendell) Hyde, Marilyn Black, Kerry (Kathy) Gee, Jerald (Toni) Gee, Jim (Marilyn) Gee, Ann (Bill) Moss; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Sugar City Stake Center. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Monday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the stake center prior to services. Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice Alliance.
