Steven Lee Park, 74, of St. Anthony, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021.
Steve was born in San Diego, CA and spent most of his young life in Southern California with the exception of 3 years in Japan. Late in his high school years his parents decided to become active in the LDS Church and Steve served a 3½ year mission in Texas and Mexico. On his return home he graduated from Rio Hordo Police Academy and began work for the Buena Park Police Dept. Where he was soon training other officers. He was taking FBI training courses and bringing them back to his fellow officers. He taught shooting, hostage negotiations and many other things. He was the first to put officer liaisons in schools to help relations with the public. Later the program went national "the DARE program." He taught Police Science at Fullerton College.
He married Dawna Gale Morrison April 25, 1970. They divorced in June 1987.
He married Sharon Sue Mount on September 23, 1988, in the Manti Utah LDS Temple.
After moving to Idaho he policed long enough to help out with the Teton Dam disaster and then went into construction. Next he went to work for the Tri District schools where he befriended many young miscreants. All this time he was raising five wonderful boys of his own plus one other one.
The things he loved best were his family, his church and helping others. He will be sorely missed.
