IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven
Compton
May 26, 1968 – February 25, 2019
Steven Allan Compton, 50, of Rexburg, passed away on February 25, 2019, at his home. He was born May 26, 1968, in San Diego, California.
From an early age it was clear that he possessed a soft and considerate disposition. He was sealed to his parents on May 5, 1976, in the Washington DC temple.
As a result of his father's military service, the next decade saw his family move to various locations from one side of the country to the other. During this time his family grew to include two brothers and three sisters.
In high school he ran on the cross-country team and developed a resounding love for playing the drums.
At nineteen he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South Dakota, where he developed a love for the local Native American population.
Following his missionary service, Steven attended Ricks College and Weber State University. It was about this time that he began to show signs of the mental illness that would plague him for the remainder of his life. Throughout it all, the same considerate and thoughtful nature he possesses as a child never abandoned him.
He is survived by his mother, Joan Rene Compton, and his siblings; Michael Compton, Debbie Lindsey, Becky Gifford, Angela Pruitt, and Daniel Compton.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, at the Rexburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East, in Rexburg.
