Sylvia May Colton was born in Salt Lake City, on December 29,1947, to Glade Byron Colton and Alice Mae Anderson Colton. She was the second child of seven children.

She was a very avid student and completed an undergraduate in home economics, a master's degree in counseling from Brigham Young University, and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Utah.

She went on a mission to California and had a deep and abiding testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her Savior and was a great example of faith and endurance to all who met her.

She lived with her mother Alice and took great pains to care for her for many years. Sylvia was a great family law attorney for 20 years and also worked in the public defender office in Sevier County while living in Richfield, Utah, the county seat.

She loved learning, books, traveling, and talking politics and religion. She loved her nieces and nephews and was always generous with them.

She is survived by her mother, Alice, brothers, Don, Larry, Roland, Gregg, Sidney, and her sister Diana, including sisters-in-laws Linda, Janice, Nahid, Cindy, and brother-in-law, Robert. Sylvia was very close to her uncles and aunts and had 37 nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

She is preceded in death by her father, Glade.

She had numerous trials in her life, but she was always strong and faithful and endured cancer for ten years with strength and long-suffering. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be sorely missed..

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Rexburg South Stake Center, 5200 S 2041 W, Rexburg. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
