Obituary

Sylvia Lillian Schaat Miller, 91, of Parker, Idaho, died Monday, December 14, 2015 of natural causes.

She was born April 6, 1924 to Peter and Mary Krug Schaat in St. Anthony Idaho. She was one of 13 children. She attended Parker elementary and graduated from South Fremont High School in 1942. She then attended Ricks college for one year.

She married Emerson Halling (Buzz) Miller on January 21,1944 in Pocatello Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1987.

Buzz and Sylvia were farming when Buzz was drafted into the Marine core and was based in California. Sylvia moved in with her sister Irene and brother in law, to be close to Buzz. During this time their first daughter, Marlene was born. Soon after the war ended.

They then returned to Parker to continue their vocation of farming and ranching. During the next 15 years 6 more children were born.
Sylvia was an excellent homemaker and took great pride in her home and yard. She loved the farm and ranch life and was an example to her children of the rewards of hard work.

She was a convert to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the age of 30. After her baptism she never wavered from her dedication and commitment to the gospel and served in many callings throughout her life.

Her personal interests included over 50 years of league bowling, winning many awards. She also enjoyed skiing, softball, bike riding and board games, etc.

She took pride in serving her community. She was involved in the Fremont- Madison cattle women and Lady Lions. She was the Farm Bureau Woman of the year and Grand Marshall of the St Anthony pioneer parade.

She is survived by her children Marlene Stoddard, Marilynn ( Ken) Clark, Dianna (Garth) Seamons, Patty (Ernie) Delgadillo, Marvin Lee ( Cindy) Miller, Lauralie ( Mitch) Blake along with 19 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Lucille Schroeder, and Nadine Greer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Richard, six brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Parker LDS church. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 18, from 6-7:30pm and on Saturday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. both at the church. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
