James "Taner" Chatfield, 36 passed away March 8th, 2022 at his home in Parker, Idaho.

Taner was born September 18th, 1985 in Mission Viejo, California, to parents James Scott and Cindy Chatfield.

He was a loving husband, son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Taner loved his family more than anything and he told them everyday. He was adored by his nieces and nephews. You could easily say that he was their favorite uncle.

Taner grew up in Southern California until he was 11. Then the family moved to Sandy, Utah. After a year they moved to Orem, Utah. Where he attended Lake Ridge Junior High and Mountain View High School. Taner loved sports, and he excelled in football, basketball, baseball and wrestling. He was awarded the MVP trophy in several. He was a diehard Anaheim Angels fan. He had plenty of their apparel to outfit a small store.

He loved the outdoors. He loved snowboarding, camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, and exploring new places. He especially loved time spent with his family.

Taner started working in high school for Holdaway Dairy, milking cows and hauling hay, in the Vineyard, Utah area. A job he truly loved. This instilled good work ethic. Taner was a very hard worker. He later worked for Peterson Concrete and developed a love of the trade. There he made several lifelong friends.

That love for work brought Taner to Idaho in the year of 2011, where he went to work with his step-dad Tony, at Straightline Striping. In the years following Taner returned to the Concrete Industry. Hiring on with Edelmeyer Concrete. He worked there for four years. He loved working for Jody and Val, they loved him. Jody and his crew helped Taner to become a master finisher. Taner did exceptional work. He went on to work for Mills Concrete, H-K Contractors, Jerome Bowen Construction and at the time of his passing Taner worked for one of his best friends, Jeremy Lamb at JL Concrete.

Taner always had a signature entrance, you knew when he had arrived. He had a contagious smile, he was always smiling, he was a happy person and he wanted everyone to be happy. Taner liked to think he was a rapper, constantly taking whatever the situation was at the moment and putting it into a rap song.

Taner was a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was also an Eagle Scout, and he was proud of that accomplishment.

Taner met Katie Sperl while working in Rexburg. She is the love of his life. They were married February 28, 2019, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She has four children that he loved as his own.

Taner is survived by his wife Katie Chatfield of Rexburg, ID, Step-children Noah, Samuel, Laurie Elizabeth and Evette. Father, Scott Chatfield of Queen Creek, AZ, Mother and Step-Dad, Cindy (Tony)Hill of Parker, ID, siblings, Mckinsay (Travis)Robbins of Eagle Mountain, UT, Sierra Larsen (Cole Miller) of Rexburg, ID, Coden (Brittny)Chatfield of Soda Springs, ID, Dane (Morgan)Chatfield of St. Anthony, ID, D'Laina (Michael)Lindsay of Lehi, UT, Heidi (Scott)Bagley of Sandy, UT, Shayla (Jacob)Heiss of Orem, UT, Tyler (Alyssa)Hill of Springville, UT. Brother in-law, RJ (April)Sperl of Monticello, UT, Sadie (Harry)Burk of Idaho Falls, ID, Levi (Shontel)Sperl of Ewa Beach, HI, Jake Sperl of Idaho Falls, ID. And his Grandparents Ed and Judy Matthews of St. George, UT, Raymond and Shanna Hill of Rexburg, ID. Along with a bunch of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal Grandparents, James and Jean Chatfield. and a Step-brother Spencer Blaine Hill.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday March 15th from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the Parker LDS Church, 132 N. Center St. Parker, ID. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be at the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
