Ted Elmer Ashment, 86 of Rexburg, passed away April 20, 2013 at Safe Haven Health & Rehab in Pocatello, Idaho, of natural causes.
He was born December 24, 1926 to Clarence James Ashment and Helen Lucille Parker Ashment at Glen, Idaho. He married Alene Larue Shumway on June 4, 1945 in the Logan LDS Temple. They later divorced.
Ted loved to work hard. He was a good provider for his family. As a newlywed, he worked for Morrison-Knudson on several projects in Wyoming and Idaho. Over the years he did such diverse work as running a feed mill, logging, truck driving, lumber yard, carpentry and cabinet making. He worked at Clark Concrete in Idaho Falls for a time. Later, he started his own contracting company and was a home builder in Wyoming and Utah. He built many homes, and did most of the work himself. He was a perfectionist and loved to do the best that he could for his customers. He taught many young men, including his own three sons, the art and craft of homebuilding and carpentry.
Ted is survived by his youngest sister, Mona Joy Ashment Dustin. Ted's three children: Michael Ted Ashment, DanL Ashment and Sherry Lynette Ashment Anderson. Ted was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; wife Alene; brother Leonard Clarence Ashment – who died as a young boy; brother Earl Roscoe Ashment; sister Laura Ashment Merritt; daughter Elaine Lucille Ashment Quinn; son Jody Lynn Ashment; daughter Bonnie Jean Ashment Gosnell; grandson Christopher Quinn.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 24, 2013 at 11:00 am. at the Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North First Street, Rexburg, Idaho. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery. The family asks that you make donations to your favorite charity.
