Teresa Funk Freeman, 55, of Rexburg, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the University of Utah Hospital following an extended battle with illness. She was born August 6, 1963 in Anaheim, California and adopted by Sheryl and Dorene Funk.
She attended school in Blythe, CA until her senior year. She and her family moved to Rexburg, ID where she completed high school as a Madison Bobcat. Teresa graduated from Ricks College in Idaho with a degree in Graphic Design. .
She married Robert Freeman on September 9, 1983 in Rexburg, Idaho. It is there they began their journey together and had three children, Ashley, Josh, and Shantel and would continue to live and raise their family.
Teresa enjoyed art in many forms and had her illustrations published in children's publications and a book about fly fishing. Family and friends could always be found at Teresa's home where she enjoyed taking on the role of "mother Teresa" and making everyone feel at home. Everyone had an open invitation into her home and knew where they could go to find a home cooked meal, a smile and hug, and good advice and counsel.
She is survived by her husband, Robert, her children; Josh (Lindsey) Freeman of Saratoga Springs, Utah and Shantel (Michael) Beckley of Pocatello, Idaho as well as 3 grandchildren. She is also survived by her parents Sheryl and Dorene Funk, two brothers, Tyler (Marissa) Funk and Todd (Melissa) Funk, and birth parents Michael Dille and Nancy Poole.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ashley, who's dying wish to Teresa was that she take care of Elli. At that time, she and her husband adopted their granddaughter Elli. In the time that remained, she devoted herself to fulfilling that wish.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at the funeral home. Interment will be in the the Burton Cemetery.
