Obituary

Terrell Lorin Arnold, 88 of Rexburg died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 28, 1925 in Rexburg, Idaho to Elbert (Abb) Arnold and Eva Smith Arnold.

Summers were spent at the family farm in Felt, Idaho. He attended school in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High school where he excelled in sports. He received a football scholarship to Utah State University at Logan, Utah. While attending the University for the football season he received his draft notice for the war. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific as a driver and gunner in tanks.

Terrell was married January 23, 1948 to Margaret Porter and sealed in the Idaho Falls temple. They had five children and made their home in Rexburg on the corner of Main and 2nd East.

He was in the National Guard as Master/Sergeant and made great friends with the younger members. He worked at INL with Health and Physics. He then opened an insurance office and established an office in the Arnold home. He always enjoyed tinkering with machines and he found that he particularly liked working with printing presses. He then started the business of Arnold Printing which was located in the Arnold home.

Terrell served in many community and civic duties for the city of Rexburg. He had an active role in getting the carousel for Porter Park brought to Rexburg. He was President of the Chamber of Commerce and participated in the Kiwanis club throughout his business years. After retiring from the printing business he was asked to be the curator of the Teton Flood Museum in Rexburg, Idaho. This was part of his life that he really enjoyed because he was a born collector and photographer leaving hundreds of historic pictures for all to enjoy.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held numerous church callings with the most recent job as the 15th ward historian.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Porter Arnold of Rexburg; children Victoria (Robert) Mortimer of Fort Collins, Colorado, Terri (Colin) Thurgood of Syracuse, Utah, Patricia (David) Niederer of Rexburg, Idaho, Kent Arnold of Rexburg, Idaho, Jacki (Ken) Sare of Big Piney, Wyoming; brothers, Dean Arnold of Sugar City, Idaho and Gary Arnold of Tetonia, Idaho, as well as 24 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Rexburg 15th Ward Chapel, 166 S 1st E, in Rexburg. Family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home, in Rexburg and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery with military rites by the Madison County Veterans and the Idaho Honor Guard.
