Obituary

Terry (Pete) Mortensen, 64 of Salem, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Friday, September 23, 2022. Terry was born on December 5, 1957, in Rexburg, Idaho to Lamont Mortensen and Doris Anderson. Terry was the youngest of 5 children: DiAnn, Twylla, Julie, and Ricky.

Terry spent his younger years with his mom and siblings in California's San Fernando Valley, and summers with his dad in Salem, Idaho. He participated in various activities in school, including playing basketball and football. Terry graduated from South Fremont High School in 1976.

Terry married his high school sweetheart, Lois Hill Parkinson on June 3, 1977.  They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls temple and enjoyed 45 years together.

Terry was a very active member of the LDS church and enjoyed serving in a wide range of callings including Elders Quorum president, ward clerk, and Sunday School teacher.  He especially loved serving as a ward missionary, a capacity in which he touched many lives.

Terry's vocational pursuits were diverse, highlighting his many abilities. He owned and operated a land-leveling business as well as Disinfecting Services, a company which served clients in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Nevada. A well-respected member of the agricultural community, Terry also owned and operated Potato Services of Idaho.

Terry knew how to enjoy life. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, training his dogs, road trips and more than anything, spending time with his family.

Terry is survived by his sweet wife Lois; their beautiful kids Mandy (Kelton) Larsen, Jade (Kylie) Mortensen, Cody (Kayla) Mortensen, Holly (Garrett) Pace, and Sarah Mortensen; brother-in-law Vard Wright, sister Julie (David) Harden; brother Ricky (Debbie) Mortensen; 18 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Terry is preceded in death by his daughter Tina; parents Lamont Mortensen, Doris Anderson, and stepfather Lou Anderson; sisters DiAnn Wright and Twylla Mortensen; and 2 grandchildren.
