Thomas Folsom

October 9, 1939 — January 6, 2026

Thomas Wesley Folsom was born October 9, 1939, in Grand Junction, Colorado to Roy Markle Folsom and Ardella Rachel Mildred Moffett. He attended Fruita High School and was active in band and the International Relations Club. He played the French horn and Sousaphone in high school and in the Marine Corp Band. He loved music and enjoyed singing and dancing. He also enjoyed fishing and watching football and baseball games; he especially loved spending time with his family and was always there to support them when needed.

Tom was a Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He was married for 52 years to the love of his life Monna. They loved to tell the story that their bishop was a dentist, and they were married in his office. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They loved each other dearly and never quarreled.

They have 5 children, and he is survived by: 2 Daughters, Ericka (Greg) Newkirk, Leslie (Barry) Hooper, and a son Christopher (Alla) Folsom

Tom loved to travel and because he was self-employed, he lived and worked in most of the western and northwest states including Colorado, California, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Nevada, finally settling down in Vancouver, Washinton and Tigard, Oregon the last 40 years of his life.

He was an exceptional upholsterer and furniture builder. His business was all by word-of-mouth recommendations, he was always busy and had many loyal customers. His children and grandchildren and their friends enjoyed spending time with him in his shop. While helping him remove old fabric and staples if he heard an “ouch” he would say with a smile “don’t bleed on the fabric.”

Tom’s sense of humor, and easy-going demeanor endeared him to everyone he met.

Tom passed away from Diastolic Heart Failure in Rexburg, Idaho at the age of 86 on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife, Monna Charlene Watts, a son, Wesley Earl “Bud” Folsom and a daughter, Karla Jane Folsom and three sisters: Gladys Morgan, Ardella (Royce) Ferguson, and Darlene Harmer.

He has 7 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
