Our beloved cowboy, Tim Merlin Munns, left his earthly home surrounded by his loving family on February 26th, 2017. Although he lost his battle on this earth, he is now enjoying sweet victory in heaven with our Lord and Savior.
Tim was born May 7, 1958 and raised in Archer, Idaho on the family cattle ranch by his parents Merlin (Jim) and Marie Weeks Munns. He shared this childhood paradise with two sisters, Connie (Nolan) Erickson of Rexburg, Toni (Virgil) Mangum of Terreton, and one brother Jim (Sherrie) Munns of Rexburg.
Tim was married to Melanie Moon and together they brought a beautiful baby boy, Payson, into the existing family of two stepsons, Travis and Kade Clark, and one stepdaughter Lyndsi (Todd) Davis. The heritage Tim received on the family ranch was the start of his knowledge and his love of raising cattle and working with horses. He worked on many cattle ranchers during his lifetime, and was well known throughout Eastern Idaho as a Ferrier. He excelled greatly in the craft of shoeing and had the reputation of getting the shoes put on almost any horse. If Tim put them on, they were still there when the horse was ready to be reset.
Tim was an avid participant to the sport of rodeo, in which he was a gifted team roper. He along with a few of his cowboy roping buddies were the founding fathers of the Snake River Team Roping Association. He was always willing to help any of the young cowboy or cowgirls who were interested in learning the art of rodeo. Tim became a stock contractor for the high school rodeos for many years providing all the timed event cattle.
Tim always felt his biggest accomplishment was seeing his son Payson reach his rodeo dreams. Tim was his coach and biggest fan, making sure Payson always had the best horses and cattle to practice on. Tim may have lived a simple life, but a full and good one. No one could sit a horse quite like Tim Munns, and for the family who loved him, there will never be another cowboy quite like him in their eyes. We love and will always miss you dearly.
Tim is survived by his wife Melanie, sons Payson, Travis and Kade, daughter Lyndsi, and sons-in-law Juan Carlos Claudio and Todd Davis, grandsons Trey, Bridger, and Sawyer, and one granddaughter Cheyenne. His parents Merlin (Jim) and Marie, siblings Connie, Toni and Jim. He was proceeded in death by both sets off grandparents and his brother-in-law Virgil Mangum.
The family will have a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4th at the Archer LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. one hour prior to the service, both times at the church. Tim will be taken to his final resting place by horse drawn wagon to the Sutton Cemetery. A special invitation is being sent out to any family/friends who would like to participate in this cowboy's last ride, by accompanying Tim to the cemetery on horse back.
