IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tony
Whitmore
January 27, 1958 – September 4, 2023
Tony Lynn Whitmore, 65, of St. Anthony, Idaho, passed away in his home on September 4, 2023, of natural causes. Tony was born in Rexburg, Idaho, to Clair Whitmore and Beverly Fenton. He grew up in Shelley and attended school there. He later moved to the Menan area to live with his dad for a few years before returning to Firth to live with his mom and stepdad, Bill. In his early 20s, he joined his stepdad in the trucking business and loved the experience and every mile that came with it. He then married Renia, and they had three children. First, Danielle; three years later, Shawn; and five years after that, Shianne. They later divorced.
Everyone who knew Tony knew how friendly he was and how much he liked to talk to everyone. Even just sparking up small talk in the grocery store or gas station, he was always talking your ear off and making jokes about something. No one was a stranger to him. He had the most contagious laugh and always jokingly teased everyone, more so if he loved you. He loved spending time on the open road in a semi (mostly his favorite, which he nicknamed Broken Heart) or just driving up in the mountains. He was always willing and ready to venture out to all sorts of places, old and new. Although, his favorite was Island Park. You've probably heard one of his million stories about his trucking experiences, and you could just see the glee on his face and his eyes light up any time he talked about the little joys of trucking along each and every highway he went down. He got a thrill out of plowing snow for many people throughout St. Anthony. He cherished spending time with his kids and grandkids, hunting, and fishing in his spare time. Along with tinkering around with any vehicle that he could get his hands on. If he set his mind to something, he was going to do it. No matter what obstacles were in his way and how many cuss words had to come out of his mouth. He was going to do it. He was a stubborn and grumpy old man, but he loved with his whole heart, and he showed that to the end.
He is survived by his mother, Beverly Ellsworth, of Firth. His father, Clair Whitmore, of Ucon. His three children: Danielle (Andy) Hall of Pocatello, Shawn (Fawnia) Whitmore of Ashton, Shianne Whitmore of Pocatello, and 7 grandsons: Blaize, Keagen, Preston, Kenny, Logan, Emmett, and Kashten. A sister, Connie (Jason) Allen, and step-siblings, Bob Ellsworth of Basalt and Gaye (Thom) Adamson of Boise. And, of course, his beloved four-legged best friend, Nigglet. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Ellsworth. Maternal grandparents: Russell and Mary Fenton. Paternal grandparents: Cecil and Connie Whitmore; brother: Gregg Whitmore. And his loyal companions, Nixie, Midget, and Ally.
