Obituary

Verna Dolores Henderson Muir, 81 of Rexburg, passed away May 16, 2012, at Madison Memorial Hospital, in Rexburg, Idaho.

She was born on October 4, 1930 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Noal R. Henderson and Verna Smith Henderson. She lived her early years in St. Anthony and later moved to Rexburg.
She graduated from Madison High School, and attended Ricks College in Rexburg.

She met Hazen Muir at a dance in Rexburg; they were married April 20, 1949 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home on the Muir homestead northeast of Rexburg. It was there, that they raised their family.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held callings in the primary, Relief Society, and Young Women. After the death of her husband in October of 1993, she served two missions for the LDS church, one proselyting to Columbia S.C., and a temple mission in Washington DC. She was a temple worker for several years both in the Idaho Falls Temple and the Rexburg Temple.

She is survived by her Children, Shelby (Karen) Muir of Rexburg, Tava (Brent) Gee of Rexburg, Diane Muir of Rexburg, Lawrence (Cindy) Muir, of Lehi Utah, LeAnn (Ed) Kirkpatrick of Rexburg, Austin (Cindy) Muir, of Idaho Falls, Alan (Jenifer) Muir of Shelley, Paul (Beverly) Muir of Rexburg, and Shane (Vicki) Muir of Teton. Siblings, Sharon (John) McCulloch, Joanne (Arlan) Gardner, Robert (Vicki) Henderson, Stuart (Shirley) Henderson, Marian (Dick) Purcell, Joyce (Wylie) Browning, J'lene (Layle) Cherry, 23 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, John Henderson, sister, Rita Henderson Vian, and a grandson, Tedd LaFaun Gee.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Stonebridge LDS Ward Chapel (475 East 7th North) The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Saturday at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
