Vicki Kay Lords Johnson, 66, of Rexburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her immediate family and health care providers on November 22, 2012, in her home, just as she wished, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in St Anthony, Idaho to V. Jay Lords and M. Nelda Hendricks Lords on October 30, 1946. Vicki grew up in Ashton, Idaho and attended elementary and high school there. She deeply valued the friends she made throughout her life.
Vicki married Robert "Bob" Sherman Johnson on July 6, 1973, and with his help raised two children, Vance and Sherri Johnson. She was a loving and caring friend, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Vicki was a driven and successful business woman working for Utah Power and Light for 15 years. She played an active role in the founding of the United Way Branch in the Upper Snake River Valley, and volunteered in the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce. She held her colleagues in high regard.
She was a devoted, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings including Youth and Adult Choir director and Relief Society President. She also served as Stake Relief Society Secretary. She later served in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg temples.
Vicki had a life - long love of music. She began as a child performing with her sisters at church and social events. With her true love Bob, she taught her children at an early age to pick out harmonies and as a family they would perform. Bob and Vicki regularly sang at church and were frequently asked by many families to sing at a loved one's funeral.
Vicki is survived by her father, V. Jay Lords; her husband, Bob Johnson; her son, Vance (Christi) Johnson; her daughter Sherri Johnson; nine grandchildren, Robert (Nichole), Benjamin (Danyel), Lowery, Eric, Micaela, Dallyn, Bailey, Shiloh, and Jaxson and one great-grandson Bentley. She is also survived by five siblings, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Vicki was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Nelda Lords; and Sister J'Lene Pharis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Burton LDS First Ward chapel, with Bishop Chris Lowry conducting. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
