Together Again
Vida R Lewis, 90, of Goshen, Idaho passed away December,12 2012, at home. She was born May 11, 1922 in Plano, Idaho to Leslie Nathaniel Robertson and Esther Jane Knapp Robertson. She was raised in Plano and attended schools in Plano and Egin. She graduated from Edmunds High School.
Her father had hired a couple of cow hands and that is where she met her sweetheart Daniel Reese Lewis of 63 years. Vida and Reese married June 28, 1940. Together they had seven children, 30 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. They enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping and after retirement traveling to Arizona for the winter. She loved to garden, sew and work out doors, she was known for her cooking, baking, and especially her fried chicken. She treasured the fact that she grew up on a farm and learned to work hard. When her sweetheart passed away in January of 2004 she made the decision to move in with her daughter Sandy and her husband Vince. She loved her new community and made many new friends.
Vida was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she loved teaching primary and going visiting teaching. On June 28,1988 she and Reese were sealed for all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple, one of her most cherished moments.
She is survived by her children: Beth Sterrett of Portland, OR, Chloe Russell of Logan, UT, Susan (Earl) Richins of Dothan, AL, Grant (Dawnell) Lewis of San Jose, CA and Paul Lewis of Lompoc, CA, Sandy (Vince) Jones of Goshen, Eleen Robertson of Boise, ID; a sister, Silda Covington of Rexburg, ID; and brother, Kent Robertson of Salem, ID.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers Lynn, Seth, Dyle and a great great grand-daughter Claire Rekeia Palmer.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 18 at the Presto Ward LDS Chapel, 792 North 1090 East, in Goshen with President David Schiess conducting. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Presto Ward Chapel and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. also at the chapel. Interment will be in Sugar City Cemetery under the care of Flamm Funeral Home.
