Obituary

Wanda Faye Olsen Scoresby, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 4, 2018, surrounded by family from complications of diabetes and heart and kidney failure. She was born January 24, 1942, in Idaho Falls, ID, the third child of Reed and Lucille Olsen. She lived in Idaho Falls for 6 years and then the family moved to Iona, Idaho.

Wanda attended Iona Elementary School through the 8th grade and went to Bonneville Jr High School for 9th Grade. Wanda's sophomore year was spent at Bonneville High in Ammon, ID and she completed her junior and senior year at the new Bonneville High School on Iona Rd. She graduated in 1959 in the top 10% of her class and was active in band, musical activity, drill team, and was a cheerleader her senior year. She attended Ricks College from 1959-1961 and earned an Associate's degree with an emphasis on secretarial duties. She worked for one year at the General Adjustment Bureau in Idaho Falls before attending BYU in Provo and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in sociology with a minor in psychology. While attending BYU, she worked on campus as a secretary and after raising her children, worked as a secretary for the District Seven Health Department in Rigby, ID.

Wanda married Fred Scoresby August 7, 1964, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Seven children were born to them: Stephen Scoresby (Keri), Michael Scoresby (Jenny), Richard Scoresby (Amber), Suzanne Ball (Bradley), Blake Scoresby (Jenna), Evan Scoresby (Kristel), Barbara Beus (Rich). Wanda is survived by her loving husband, Fred, children, 24 grandchildren, and siblings Marjorie Sargent, Wendell Olsen (Rachel), Dorothy Fuller (Gene), Ralph Olsen (Annette) and Roger Olsen (Miriam). Wanda's family was her pride and joy.

Wanda studied piano and organ and also played the flute in the high school band. She accompanied many musical numbers and was ward organist and choir accompanist for much of her life. She also taught piano lessons for many years and loved her students. Wanda was interested in many things and was a dabbler in such things as interior decorating, literature and English, word study, sewing, crocheting, cross-stitch, hand-writing analysis, psychology, quilting, and gardening. Wanda was an excellent cook and an avid reader and especially loved going to book club and discussing books and loved the ladies in her book club. After the Teton Dam Flood in 1976, Wanda started writing a journal which she has done faithfully for over forty years.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many church positions throughout her life and was a temple worker for ten years in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg LDS temples. She loved serving with her husband as missionaries working with the addiction recovery groups on BYU-I campus.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018, at the Rexburg East Stake Center, 387 South 4th East. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 8,from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Monday from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. at the stake center prior to services. Interment will be in the Iona Cemetery in Iona, Idaho.
