Obituary

It was a joyous day on December 1, 1944 when Earl Wayne Holladay burst forth on the stage of life. He was the 4th child and only son of Earl Parnell "Jack" and Mary Regina "Jean" Harris Holladay. On Sunday morning, June 2, 2013, Wayne, surrounded by members of his family, left this earth life to continue his eternal quest with loved ones who have passed on. Wayne never doubted that he was indeed an eternal being and a Son of God. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Wayne lived a full and happy life, attracting friends from every walk of life; but his most treasured friend was that of Barbara Hunt Holladay who became his eternal companion on July 10, 1970 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Barbara and Wayne have four beautiful children, and have eleven grandchildren who are the light of their life. Wayne never met a stranger, and always made people feel like they had just met their very best friend. He was truly a people person who loved and trusted everyone.

In his very full lifetime, he became an Eagle Scout, graduated from Idaho Falls High School, and graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. Degree in Business Management. He loved serving as a missionary in the Central Atlantic Mission. Wayne never lost an opportunity to show his great sense of humor, his wit, and his zest for life. He was always engaged in positive service. He was a teacher, a young men's leader, a business manager for Holladay's, and a Real Estate Broker. He also served his communities when he lived in Idaho Falls, Ammon, and Rexburg, and was a member of the Rexburg Rotary Club. Wayne loved to go fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and floating the river that he often did with his family.

Wayne had a very natural gift of speaking, teaching, and presenting, and was often called on by his associates to lead out in these activities. He enjoyed selling, and he viewed selling as an opportunity to help people make a selection that would better their lives and bring them happiness. Those who knew and loved Wayne will miss him, his sincerity, his humility, his wit and sense of humor, and his way of making everyone feel important.

Wayne is survived by his wife Barbara and his children: Jason (Jennifer) Holladay of Providence, Utah, Holly (Joel) Cannon of Salmon, Idaho, Jackson (Jaynette) Holladay of Spokane, Washington, and David Holladay of Salt Lake City, Utah and 11 grandchildren. And by his sisters: Joan Robison, St. George, Utah, Carol (Bill) Nixon, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Donna (Harland) Stosich, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Ronald (Deseree) Hunt, Denver, Colorado and Carol (Richard) Michaelis, Helena, Montana. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife's parents Dale and Betty Hunt, and brother-in-law Rulon (Rob) Robison.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Lyman 2nd Ward Chapel, 1952 West 6000 South, in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
