IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wendel
Wood
September 23, 1945 – January 25, 2022
Wendel Jay Wood, 76 of Egin, Idaho passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022.
Wendel was an amazing man to anyone that knew him and always called him woodsy or woody.
He was born September 23, 1945 in Rexburg, Idaho to Ralph Jay and June Lucille Bell Wood.
His life has been an amazing journey to listen to and to watch, the stories he could tell you about things he's accomplished in life and the endless hours he would talk about all the good fun times he had. Things were rough but I mean that's just what we call life, to call a man stubborn was one thing but woodsy was one tough man! He was the strongest, most stubborn man that has walked the face of this earth and he always did it with a smile on his face! He didn't give up easily, he always put up a fight and proved everyone wrong that he could do anything he wanted to! If you needed a good laugh or someone to vent to he was always there with ears open wide, a shoulder to cry on, and a laugh just waiting for you. He loved his son so much even when they had their differences, his son was his best buddy, partner in crime. Once he found out Amanda and Jerome were pregnant that man had never smiled so hard in his life he was so happy to get a grand baby that he could spoil, hold, and watch grow. He always knew that family wasn't just people who were blood related, family was friends, coworkers, and people you meet along the way. He was the best hunting and fishing buddy someone could ever ask for, you would watch him get frustrated he couldn't find anything to shoot at while hunting or the fish would just bite on his pole just one more time. He always made sure you laughed so hard your eyes were crying and your stomach hurt like crazy, if he didn't he didn't do the job right. John Wayne was his idol. He loved that man and tried to be him his whole life, got pretty dang close if you ask me. Gun smoke was his favorite TV show to watch no matter how many times he had seen an episode he would argue with you and make sure you did not change his TV channel until Gunsmoke was over. He will be missed so much! Fly high daddy go be on the top of that mountain that's what you loved best being in the outdoors and go hunt all the deer and elk you want! Catch some huge fish for us all. We all love you so much and missing you hurts but in our hearts we will always know you're right here with us.
"When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me. I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free!
Miss me a little, but not too long. And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me but let me go.
For this journey we all must take and each must go alone. It's all part of the master plan, A step on the road to lead me home.
When your sick and lonely, go to friends we know, And bury your sorrows, in doing good deeds. Miss me but let me go!"
