Obituary

Wilhelm Carl Kolditz, 95 of Rexburg, passed away Friday April 15, 2016 under the loving care of the Homestead Assisted Living.

He was born on April 4, 1921 on a tiny Island called Billiton, in the Dutch East Indies-now known as Indonesia, to William Carl Kolditz and Marianne Djedir Wirjodrona. He grew up outside the big cities in areas where wild animals still existed. During the last two years of High School he met a girl, Corrie van der Hoeven, who sat right behind him. Japan conquered the Indies in March 1942, and Wil was put in a Japanese concentration camp from August 1942 - December 1945. In 1946 Wil found Corrie again and within a week asked her to marry him. They were married on April 3, 1947 and their first son Wilhelm Carl Jr was born a year later. Indonesia became independent December, 1949, and the family left the Indies on April 4, 1951, and went to the Netherland's where their 2nd son, Walter was born.

In December 1959, the family got the opportunity to sign up for immigration to the U.S. and they arrived in New York on July 23, 1960 and ended up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He got a job as an accountant. Shortly after arriving in the US the missionaries found them and they became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in July 1962. The family moved to Idaho the end of October 1978, living in Goshen, Shelley and Rexburg.

Wil was devoted to his church callings. He served as a dedicated home teacher, a counselor in the Bishopric in Milwaukee, and many other callings. His last calling was Executive Secretary for the Rexburg 8th Ward. He and his wife, Corrie, served two missions to the Netherlands.

He was a caring and loving husband to Corrie. They were inseparable. Together they touched many people's lives with their compassion and love for their Heavenly Father.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Corrie; two brothers, Alfred and Fritz and two sisters, Erna and Irma Kydeniers.

He is survived by one sister, Leen Stindt, and two brothers, Erich and Ernst from the Netherlands and another brother, Otto Kolditz of Indianapolis, Indiana. His two sons, Wilhelm (Lily) Kolditz of Cathlamet, WA, Walter (Rosie) Kolditz of Sugar City, ID; nine grandchildren, Ross (Dixie) Kolditz, Lisa (David) Blanchard, Jennifer (Jason) Smith, Joie Kolditz, Brandon (Tamara) Kolditz, Corianne (Jon) Adams, Stephanie (Cory) Newton, Matt (Nikki) Kolditz, Kevin Kolditz and 29 great- grandchildren with one on the way.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 26, at the Sugar City Stake Center with Bishop Kip Harris officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home.
