Obituary

William (Bill) Asa Miller, 72, of Murray, Utah passed away on July 4, 2021, in Rexburg, Idaho.

He will be laid to rest on Monday, July 12 th in the Rexburg Cemetery by his immediate family.  A celebration of his life and memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 21 st , at 10:00 am in the Homestead Ward Building, 5605 South Vine Street, in Murray, Utah.

Bill Miller was born in Spanish Fork, Utah to Helen and Ralph Miller on July 7, 1948.  He went to school in Provo, Utah, graduating from Provo High School in the class of 1966 with High Honors.  He served a proselytizing mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Austria from 1967-1969.  On his mission he learned the German language and delighted in teaching others about his loving Heavenly Father and His eternal plan.  He married Karla Louise Meigs on November 28, 1970, in Twin Falls, Idaho, shortly after introducing her to the gospel and her baptism.  They were shortly after sealed, for time and all eternity, in the Manti Utah Temple on February 12, 1971.  He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in engineering, and later from the University of Utah with a PhD in Medical Biophysics.  He was the co-founder of Oak Financial Services (established over 40 years ago) in Murray, Utah and built, owned, and managed many low-income housing developments throughout the state. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and lived his life accordingly.

Bill loved his family.  He was a supportive husband and father.  He loved his wife, Karla, with all his heart and always took such loving care of her.  He continually supported his children in their educational pursuits and interests.

He was also an adoring grandpa.  When many of the grandchildren were babies, you would find him watching Baby Einstein videos and early morning cartoons with them.  As they grew older, he loved to make them laugh, build them up, and take them to the local nickel arcade; these outings became tradition.   He always enjoyed taking family members and friends out to eat at local restaurants and appreciated the time they spent together.  He loved his siblings and continually made sure to help take care of them.  In truth, his family circle was much larger than any genealogy chart would show, as many of his friends were a part of his extended family.

Bill loved to give to others.  Early in his adult life he felt that the Lord had blessed him abundantly, and he felt compelled to share those blessings with others.  It truly was what brought him the most joy and contentment in life.  He continually delighted in sharing with others what he had.

He loved the game of golf, and he played as much as he could.  His best golfing partners were also his closest high school friends, and they remained good friends and supported him until the end of his life. He also loved the sport of Ice Hockey.  He not only loved watching his two sons play from the stands, but also loved coaching them and so many other budding athletes.  One of his most exciting moments was when he coached his youngest son and the Murray High School Hockey team to a Utah State Championship victory in 1999.  He coached the Murray Spartan team for 13 years.

Bill is preceded in death by his younger brother, Jon S. Miller, and his parents, Helen and Ralph Miller.

Bill Miller is survived by his wife, Karla Louise Meigs Miller of Murray, Utah; his children and spouses: Jeremy William Miller, Jamie Kay Miller and Jacob K. Curtis, and Seth Asa and Karen Miller; his siblings and spouses: Jerry and Judy Miller, Caroline (Dee) and Eddie Guess, and Greg and Nancy Miller; and 8 grandchildren: Emily (20), Madison (18), Danielle (15), Sam (14), Victoria (12), James (12), Chloe (10), and Elizabeth (8). They will miss him greatly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Primary Children's Medical Center.

His family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the Homestead Assisted Living Center and the Homestead Home Health and Hospice team in Rexburg, Idaho for their considerate and attentive care that they gave him during his last few months of life.
