Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Pogue on September 9, 2024, in Rexburg, ID. Born on October 29, 1964, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was the eldest son of Thomas and Dian Pogue. The family eventually settled in Libertyville, where William graduated from Libertyville High School and earned a bachelor's degree in business from Lake Forest College.

William's passion for music and nature was a hallmark of his life; he found joy in playing the piano and drew inspiration from the outdoors through running and cycling. In 2004 he proudly finished the Chicago Marathon in under 5 hours. With a dash of creativity and a sprinkle of love, he could whip up a delicious meal from just about anything in the kitchen. William was a lifelong learner who embraced every opportunity to expand his understanding. In recent years, he traveled around the West Coast, fueling his sense of adventure. Last year, he moved to Rexburg and was later baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His steadfast belief in God's plan guided him through life's hurdles and joys.

Knowing William was to know you'd never meet anyone else like him. He gave freely, loved wholly, and was incredibly passionate. As he would say, "The water is fine, just jump!" He was wonderful and truly special to us all.

He is survived by his children: Alex, Sean, Ari, James, and Jade; his siblings: Suzie, Kathy, Peter, Jon, Patty, Rob, and Brian; his father, Thomas (Irene); and his grandchildren: Kaiden, Isaiah, Chad, and Liam. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dian.

Please join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11 AM at Hibbard 1st Ward building 2001 N 3000 W, Rexburg ID 83440, followed by lunch. If you are unable to attend in Rexburg, the family will hold a memorial in Illinois at a future date. Please let them know if you'd like to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the family's memorial fund to assist with unexpected expenses. Donations can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of/william-pogue/.
