William (Bill) Roy Hocker, 73, of Rexburg Idaho passed away on Sunday December 27 ^th .  He was born to parents Glen and Betty Hocker, on January 15 ^th , 1947, in Monte Vista, CO. Bill attended high school at Idaho Falls High School, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1965 and was honorably discharged four years later after receiving the Vietnam Service medal, National Defense Service medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal, and the Air Force Good Conduct medal.  During his enlistment, Bill married Bessie Carolyn Stacey in 1968.  Bill and Carolyn had two children, Shon and Kara. Bill later graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Weber State College.

Bill was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer in 1994 that nearly took his life. His father, Glen, also unexpectedly passed away in 1994, leaving him to take single handedly care for his mother until her passing in 2008. Bill continued to fight cancer on and off for the next 26 years. Bill enjoyed traveling to Arizona during the winter months to mine for gold.  Among his many hobbies, he enjoyed hunting, trapping, old cars, and wood carving. He also loved pets and seemed to always have a dog or two and sometimes a cat. When asked to mention something that was noteworthy in his life, Bill considered the arrival of his grandchildren to be very significant.

Bill is survived by both of his children, Shon and Kara, as well as 8 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Glen Roy Hocker and Betty Jean Lamm Hocker.

Bill will be laid to rest in Fielding Memorial Cemetery next to his parents.  A graveside service will follow at a later date.
