Yerda E. Smith, 88, of Sugar City, died Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Ashton Living Center of natural causes. She was born March 20, 1921 in Annis, Idaho to Henry Owen and Fanny Katherine Morgan Ellis.
She married Lewis Floyd Smith on December 21, 1944. They raised six children.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary for 20 years and the Relief Society for 46 years.
She lived in Rexburg most of her life, Sugar City for 19 years, and had lived at the Ashton Living Center for the past 18 months with her husband.
She is survived by her husband Lewis Floyd Smith; children, Marla Naylor of Orofino, Idaho, LeAnn Radtke of Paradise, California, DaNell Woodbury of Salem, Idaho, Ronny Smith of Boise, Gail Lords of Shelley; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lynn Smith, her parents, siblings, Stillman Ellis, Afton Butler, Dorothy Beardall, David Ellis, Armista Johnson, Ike Ellis, DeEsta Widerburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31 at the Sugar City Stake Center with Bishop Bruce Bills officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the stake center prior to services. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
