Yuvonne Rasmussen Garner, 91, of Newdale, Idaho, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at her home in Newdale surrounded by her family.
She was born September 5, 1924 in Ashton, Idaho, to Carl and OrReva Rasmussen.
She married Gordon Garner, her high school sweetheart, on November 14, 1942. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on April 14, 1966. Shortly after their marriage in 1942, they moved to Pecos, Texas where Gordon served in the US Air Force. After the war they moved to Pocatello where Gordon attended school. They then moved to Newdale where she and Gordon operated the Conoco Oil Business until his death in 1984.
Mom had a tremendous sense of humor. She loved to quilt, read, crochet, and enjoyed genealogy. Her main passion was doll collecting. Her entire home was filled with her beloved dolls. She also loved making dolls for her grandchildren.
Mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings: her favorite was serving as a librarian for over 20 years working with 5 different Bishops.
She is survived by her four children: Michael (Jerelyn) Garner of Meridian, Idaho, Sue (Brent) Ricks of Sugar City, Idaho, Barry (Diane) Garner of St Anthony, Idaho Jerry (Chris) Garner of Rigby, Idaho; two sisters, Bonnie Keele and Freddie (Ray) Gould all of Idaho Falls; nineteen grandchildren and 58 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother K Rasmussen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Newdale LDS Chapel with Bishop Jason Grover officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 10-10:45 at the church. Interment will be in the Teton Newdale Cemetery under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home.
