Obituary

Alice Yvonne Briggs Cazier, 85, of Rexburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, February 3, 2018.

Yvonne was born March 30, 1932 in Rigby, Idaho to Isaac Briggs and Lulu Margaret Jones and was the first of two children. Her father passed away when she was just seven.

She graduated from Rigby High School in 1950, attended Ricks College for a year, and then worked in the Blue Cross office in Idaho Falls to obtain funding to attend college for another year. Because of her shorthand skills she was called to take down patriarchal blessings for Patriarch Alma Larsen.

While attending Ricks College she met Gail Cazier from Twin Groves. They began communicating by letters, as neither had a phone. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 26, 1952.

They lived in Rexburg while Gail completed his bachelor's degree at Ricks College, and then moved to Ririe where Gail taught high school. They then moved to Shelley after Gail accepted employment for INEL and lived there for 20 years.

They moved to Rexburg in 1976, just three weeks before the Teton Dam flood. While Gail worked for Ricks College as the Director of Computing Services, Yvonne attended classes and earned her Associate Degree at the age of 62.

Yvonne loved to travel. Together with Gail they visited many of the States in America and toured many countries, including Russia, Europe, Canada, and Taiwan. She also loved art and painted many oil paintings now hanging in her family's homes.

Yvonne and Gail also loved missionary work and served full time missions to Las Vegas, Nauvoo, and as missionaries at the Idaho Falls Family History Center.

Yvonne served in many church callings, including Primary President, Relief Society President, Blazer Leader , Sunday School teacher, humanitarian leader and as an ordinance worker in the Rexburg Temple with her husband Gail.

Yvonne was a loving mother and grandmother, and treasured time with her family. She had a special way with children that brightened and touched their spirits, and her kind and gentle nature was greatly valued by friends and family alike.

Yvonne is survived by their children; Vicki (Les) Gray, David (Julie) Cazier, Paul (Bronda) Cazier, Bonnie (Doug) Conway, Michael (Diana) Cazier, and Janet (Larry) Rigby along with 29 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Lulu Briggs; her husband Gail Cazier; her sister Gwen Griffiths; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Ashley Cazier; and one great-grandchild, Liam Rigby.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the Park Street Chapel in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Saturday, prior to services, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
