Zell Stevenson Grover Freeman, 102, resident of Rexburg, Idaho, passed away on the 25th of March 2018 peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born May 19th 1915 in Silverton, Texas to Robert and Minnie Stevenson.
After graduating from business college, she worked for Mountain Bell Telephone company for a few years. Then in 1940 she moved to Cheyenne Wyoming and worked in the Secretary of State's office.
She met her first husband Martell Grover who was serving in the U.S Army. They got married in 1942 and she joined the LDS Church in Cheyenne. They had two children F. Martell and Gail Steve.
Two months later after their marriage Martell Grover was transferred to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland to take a teaching position. Zell soon followed and found a job in the U.S.O in Aberdeen. It was most interesting and rewarding to help serve the military men and women she encountered in this position.
In 1943 Zell joined the U.S Army Ordinance working as a Secretary to a colonel in purchasing and accounting. Later Zell transferred into the Air Corps to be with Martell.
Upon Martell Sr. returning to the United States they both attended school to further their studies. Then in 1946 they opened Grover Jewelry in Rexburg, Idaho.
Also, in June 1976 the Teton Dam Flood destroyed their two homes, and the jewelry store. They rebuild the store and continued moving forward in their goals. The late Martell Grover passed away in 1976.
In August of 1991 Zell married the late John Freeman of Maywood Illinois. He also served with Martell in Germany in the Army. John two daughters and their families live in Salem Oregon.
She is remembered with love by her son Fred Martell Grover his wife Carlene Grover, Daughter in law Rina Grover, two daughters Patricia and spouse Ralph, Suzy and spouse Larry and ten grandchildren and their respective spouses, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by first husband Martell Grover, second husband John Freeman and Son Gail Steve Grover
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 30th at Flamm Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
