Rosella Smith

Rosella Campbell Smith, born March 8, 1926, passed away July 27, 2026. She was 100 years old.

Rosella was born to James Campbell and Ellen Branson in Nampa, Idaho. She grew up in Egin, Idaho and attended school in Parker. She was the youngest of 12 children. She was humbled through her life circumstances, having lost her father when she was just 3 years old. However, both charity and kindness filled her childhood home where she learned to share all with which she was blessed with those who had a need. Those lessons of love became who our beloved Grandma Rose was. 

Everyone remembers her being a “mother” to all, making sure your needs were taken care of and that you felt you were loved and accepted. Hers was a home with food on the table and love to spare for anyone lucky enough to walk through her doors. 

While she was still quite young, she met Virgil Smith, who immediately said, “I’m going to marry that girl.” He did, and they had 5 Children; Verel, Mary, Randy (deceased), Patti and Rodney. They added 15 grandkids, then 32 great-grandkids. And now 20 great-great-grandkids. Six will carry on her name. 

Rosella lived what it meant to be a Matriarch. She was a genuinely beautiful person. Kindness and goodness followed her. She was elegant and generous. Full of patience and compassion. She gave comfort and service. She was Family. But if you really want to know Rosella Campbell Smith, watch her grandkids and great-grandkids. Grandma Rose’s nature is reflected in how generations love and care for one another. It doesn’t matter how you’re related, you belong and you are loved. Time and distance don’t diminish your place in her family. We have Grandma Rose in common and that is enough.

She will be missed and remembered but never replaced. 

Services will be held August 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary, 581 E. 1st Street N., St. Anthony, Idaho 83445. The family will receive friends that morning from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Chester Cemetery.
