Serenity Jaseje Makenzi Hall, known to many as James, peacefully left this life on March 28, 2026, at the age of 17. They were born on January 21, 2009, in Blackfoot, Idaho, and spent their life in eastern Idaho, living in Blackfoot, Shelley, Idaho Falls, and Newdale.
James lived life in a way that was entirely their own—full of humor, heart, and just the right amount of sarcasm. They had a love for all things a little spooky, especially horror movies, with Child’s Play (Chucky) being a favorite. Movie nights were a regular and much-loved tradition, often filled with laughs, commentary, and their signature dark humor.
A proud Slytherin at heart from the world of Harry Potter, James embraced their individuality and stood confidently in who they were. They were also a devoted fan of Bob’s Burgers, knowing every episode and never missing a chance to quote it.
James had a deep love for animals—especially dogs—and never hesitated to approach a stranger just to ask if they could pet theirs. Foxes and pitbulls held a special place in their heart. They were known for making people feel seen, often running up to someone just to offer a genuine compliment or spark a new friendship.
They were a passionate supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and believed deeply in people’s right to love and live as their true selves. Kindness came naturally to them, and they gave it freely to everyone they met.
James found joy in drawing, reading, and getting lost in books. They loved the outdoors—hunting, floating, and sitting around campfires—and cherished time spent with family during game nights and movie nights. Above all, they valued connection, laughter, and simply being together.
You could often find James with a bag of extra hot Cheetos or Dinamita Chile Limón chips in hand, paired with an A&W root beer or a simple glass of milk. Dove chocolate was a favorite sweet treat. They were most comfortable in their favorite black hoodie, often wrapped up in a Snuggie with a heating pad and the softest blanket they could find—perfectly content and cozy.
They attended Valley View High School in Sugar City, Idaho.James was raised in a large, loving, and beautifully blended family. Their family was unique, full of love, and something James embraced wholeheartedly.
A viewing will be held at Bert Flamm Mortuary, 581 E 1st N, St. Anthony, Idaho, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In honor of James and their love for comfort over formality, the family kindly asks that guests refrain from wearing formal or Sunday attire. Please feel free to come as you are—whether that means your favorite pajamas, a hoodie, or even wrapped in a blanket—whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
James was a light to those who knew them—a shining star, as unique as a snowflake falling from the sky. Though they are no longer with us, they will continue to shine down from the stars, forever remembered and never forgotten.
